GameSpy announces this years top ten games.
Quote | This year we opted to recognize the Top 10 Best Games for each platform, as well as the best Online Multiplayer games. There are a couple of ways to slice it, so we made some decisions to keep the lists from all repeating themselves: Each Top 10 list is weighted so that it emphasizes the strengths of each platform, such as killer exclusive content. When it came to multiplatform games, we tried to list the title only for the platform that took the most advantage of the game. (Tony Hawk's Underground, for instance, really shined on the PS2 where the multiplayer was the best, even though it was also exceptional for the Xbox, GameCube and PC.) If you take in all the lists together, you get a really balanced view of what was hot this year, as well as what makes each platform special. |
Top 10 PC Games
1. Call of Duty
2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004
5. Deus Ex: Invisible War
6. Halo: Combat Evolved
7. Rise Of Nations
8. Maxy Payne 2: The fall of Max Payne
9. Tron 2.0
10. Railroad Tycoon 3
Well done to Call of Duty for winning PC GOTY! |

Agreed Frank, diffenitly a great game to play..
I for sure expected Vice city to be in the top 3, an addictive game that you can play for hours on end and it still gets better.
Some of the games haven't been released for that long so since people haven't played them yet some games are lower than expected.

Couldn’t agree more When I get bored I just load up Vice City, steal a car, drive to the nearest police station and start killing everything in uniform. It’s a great stress reliever and a bit of sociopathic bit of fun when you've had a hard day
I was just wondering about CoD. Is it really that good? I've heard a lot of people talking about it and I've checked out the system requirements and unbelievably my computer can run it comfortably. Been looking for a new game for Christmas, I was going to go with XIII but it kinda looks a bit samey (at least the demos did) if you know what I mean. I'd be grateful for your oppinions, especially the RF players. Thanx |

T-M-I-N-E I am very happy with CoD, I don't play it online very much because I still prefer Red Faction over it. The single player IMO is worth it alone.
A RF Player

CoD is completely great.
CoD SP is definately an incredible part of it. First time I have played SP all the way through.
The MP I played more tonight. The gameplay is the best I have seen. Played some TDM for a bit and it was so much fun!
XIII's SP was fun to play. And I look forward to the sequel to it. The MP is fun but takes getting used to the guns. But worth the effort

About time you finished it, I can't wait for the mod.
BTW T-M-I-N-E is you don't want to pay for it, you can always get it free by getting another video card
Game Bundle: Call of Duty

Would you be speaking of the gameplay mode? Cause if your already using a mod why wait for one? |

Yes this one:
Quote | Headquarters is a team-based objective mode with respawning. A location in the map is randomly selected from a list of different places, and each team fights over that spot to hold it and set up their headquarters there. Once a team has set up a headquarters, they must defend it for 45 seconds. If they succeed, then they score big time, everyone respawns and they have to do it again. If they fail, then the attacking team scores points, everyone respawns, a new random location is chosen, and each team fights to set up their headquarters again. The teams respawn together simultaneously, but to eliminate spawn camping, the teams don't spawn in the same place each time. |

Thanks for your opinions I'm more interested in the SP aspects of most games cuz as a 56ker I expect not to be able to play a lot of them online properly. I heard XIII SP is pretty short? Dunno about MP cuz every time I tried to join a (demo) server they were all full. Its based on the Ut2K3 engine right? Never played it but I never had problems playing UT online (least not as many problems as with Halo).
As for SoD, I think I'll get it but it'll be a while before I can afford a new video card unless I decide to give up beer for Lent
Thanks

MicroSoft paid them to put in First place but there was confusion and the "real" number one got First Place.
