Welcome!
Post 5 / 5

Hey guys, I'm trying to reinstall the game after months of not playing. I have xp sp3 now, when before I had vista. The game worked great before. Now, however, when I go into a multiplayer game, I seem to be moving around the map too quickly and it's real jerky. When others see me it looks like I'm lagging as I jump around a lot when I'm walking. I often get disconnected when I get close to another player. Also, I tried downloading Pure faction to see if that would somehow solve it. I can open up the game using purefaction, but as soon as it get's to the menu screen, and I click on any of the menus, purefaction freezes. I'm not sure if these are related problems, or if God just doesn't want me playing this game. lol Any help would be appreciated.

It could be due to a firewall, or something else lagging up your connection.

Have you checked whats running in the background as well as making sure ports are open?
Meh...

Run the Program Compatibility Mode

1. Right-click the program icon (RF.exe or your Red Faction shortcut ) on your desktop or the shortcut on the Start menu for the program you want to run, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab, and change the compatibility settings for your program (windows98).

Note The Compatibility tab is only available for programs installed on your hard drive. Although you can run the Program Compatibility Wizard on programs or Setup files on a CD-ROM or floppy disk, your changes will not remain in effect after you close the program.

To run the Program Compatibility Wizard:

1. Click Start, and then click Help and Support.
2. Click Fixing a problem, and then click Application and software problems.
3. Under Fix a problem click Getting older programs to run on Windows XP.
4. Read the instructions and then click the Program Compatibility Wizard.

Also, if it's an older computer and it has Hyperthreading enabled, then that could do it also. For that you will have to go into the bios to disable it.
