My situation is as follows:
I have a Premium Xbox 360 w/20GB HDD. It doesn't have an HDMI socket, it uses Component cable.
20GB HDD is getting very close to full and I dont want to delete DLC I have paid for, plus I wish to get more DLC as time goes on.
The drive occasionally sticks, but will open the second time around. However as of yesterday it is sticking alot, took me 30minutes to open the tray and now it seems to be opening once in every 2/3 tries.
I have been contemplating buying a 120GB HDD, but with the drive now causing problems im unsure how to proceed.
Options:
1. Buy new 120GB HDD. These are retailing for £85 New and £55 Second hand.
2. Buy new Xbox 360 Elite (w/120G . These are £199.99
3. Pre-order and buy the new Limited Edition MW2 Xbox (w/250G, also comes with MW2. This is £249.99
Now out of the 3, the 1st option is obviously cheaper, but with my Xbox a bit dodgy, it also seems the risky option.
Out of option 2 and 3. I think best Value goes to MW2 Xbox, as its only £50 more and you get MW2 with and and a huge increase in memory. It looks like im leaning towards the third option. What do you guys reckon?
Also, I can trade-in my old Xbox 360 w/HDD and get a trade-in of £75 at the minute apparently.  (I believe they also allow you a few days to Transfer your stuff across to the new HDD so you dont lose your data!) |

Was looking at a MW2 one myself... nice design, 250Gb drive (which they say will not be available separately... but time will tell on that one), 2 wireless controllers and a mic. Not seen it listed anywhere yet so unsure on price tho? If its only £50 more than the Elite then I'm sold... I was looking at an Elite already...
I've got a 20Gb like you and am often having to delete stuff off it as its no where near big enough... I also have a wireless mic (MUCH better than the wired... WHEN it has battery  ) and want a backup wired mic.
Whilst my console isn't dying I want a DVD player for the bedroom and if said DVD player could also play games... bonus. As an XNA developer I'm begining to get to the point of looking at multiplayer stuff... so need two consoles anyway.
If the console itself is begining to die I'd get a new one Beat. There have been several versions of the 360, the first being the RROD loving variety and each version after that improved reliability... the newest ones supposedly have no such issues, quieter and don't run as hot. |

OK, couldn't find it on the Game website (apparently UK exclusive for them on its... yet not advertised anywhere on their site...) but found it via a link on a news website...
£249 with £12.50 of reward vouchers back is a damn good deal for a console...
Considering the Elite is £199.99 and this has a 250Gb drive instead of the 120Gb and MW2 itself (£45 on its own) and the MW2 styling obviously... bargin. Ordered! |

I got the price from Gamestation in town, heard its an exclusive to Game/Gamestation in the UK. What link Garner? Fancy chucking it my way, seems you get a tad more (reward vouchers) via Game. Is itn a down payment, or a full payout now? I will probably go for this.
I was thinking the £50 is nothing, when you consider the upgrade. |

PM'd you the link, if you search for "modern warfare 2" on Game's site it is now appearing as a search result.
Not sure if its up front or what... I put it on my credit card but no idea if I've been charged already for it or not until release. It shouldn't be until release I believe but you can never be sure with these companies...
If you don't mind the MW2 styling there is no point in going for the Elite console yeah... better deal this!

Hmm, well somehow my friend got a 2nd harddrive in his xbox and is able to access both of them. He bought another 20 gig hd off ebay. It's a japanese run-off brand but it works. |

Modded? I doubt he can get on Live. Either that or access BOTH of them. Only way I can imagine this is if he somehow Raided them but Xbox 360's dont support Raid... Do they?

Nope, only legitimate way to have two drives is to swap them as needed. Otherwise modded and probably not working online and if it does, probably not much longer before banned.
Don't wait too long to order the console Beat, no idea how many they have in stock - it is a limited edition afterall! |

Being banned for modding a console is a bit of a myth tbh.I know someone that has had one for like 3 years now and used it online. Although I myself had one banned I booted it up without the dvd drive attached properly without noticing and it banned the console for being hardware modded
I really doubt he has 2 hdd's though, it doesn't support raid. You can get a normal laptop drive and format it to work on the 360 though if you get the right files. |

That's pretty lame of them ... banning an Xbox from live because it has different hardware ...
How does that work anyway? do you have to format the drive a specific way and flash the firmware to something? or does it only work for specific types of drives? |

They only care if you go online with them... modding them is a way of getting into save game files etc and thus seen as cheating. If you are playing fairly you have no need to mod the box...
Of course the big reason they ban modded consoles is that you can mod them so you can just download games off the net rather than buying them so its the whole piracy thing. They think you're doing something illegal they ban you from going online. Pretty fair if you ask me, its their hardware and their network you're connecting to...
Two boxes gets around that naturally... have a legit one for online play, modded one for offline play.
I only have one I should point out... the second one on its way will be untouched as well |

Waiting to get paid. Isnt life a biatch!? Hmmm, will probably get it delivered to the office, otherwise I will have to wait until the following Saturday to pick it up.
I may just move some money around to cover the cost if they do decide to take it all out in one go. Will have to do that today me thinks!  |

Yeah I said that in my post. Its fairly random. you can log in and get banned instantly or play for years and then get banned. Or in some cases like my friend you can play a modded console online, build up an insane gamerscore by downloading every game for the last few years and get away with it! |
