Every post here is pretty much spot on. I'm fairly tempted just to quit my position as an admin - site seems to be going nowhere, this isn't known publicly but I have suggested many new additions to the site which have just gone ignored.
Frank will sometimes reply saying it's up to Garner, or Garner is the only one who can do these things.
This is just ignoring the problems we have. There are many many many people here (not just on staff) which could assist with adding new features to the site, both on the ideas level and the coding. But its all just brushed off and ignored.
I frankly am just getting bored of this site, its turning stagnent. I'm aware I can just leave if I don't like it, but this is a poor attitude "if you don't like it you know what you can do" is a disgusting thing to say.
Myself and many of the people who have posted in this thread have spent a lot of time to get us to where we are now, I and others are willing to push this site into the future and make it great, my suggestions and offers of help go either ignored or denied.
IF it doesn't change, it won't just be me "leaving" I'm sure of that.
To the people saying about corrupt staff though, I would like to know who they mean?
The only active staff who are actually banning people and editing posts are me, KILLER and NCF, which one of us are we talking about here?
Frank has some kind of OCD with keeping threads clean, I myself do not see the need for it, BUT it's hardly the worst thing a forum admin could be doing right?
I don't agree with it, but at the same time it's not a huge deal.
So I personally have no real big problems with NCF, I don't really agree with his actions on the forum sometimes but that's not really anything to do with me.
KILLER I think can be annoying, but that's just because he thinks differently to me, which again isn't a big problem, KILLER is actually a nice guy to share a bit of banter with and can take things as a good sport most of the time.
Me? I have banned 3 people in the last week, after many,many warnings and I don't see this as an issue. I allow the rules to be bent most of the time, never ever ever ever edit anyone's posts. I see myself to be quite a fair admin without letting some weird virtual power trip take over.
I also add lots of files to the site and contribute a fair few ideas to give this site the kick start it needs.
So yeah apart from the obvious issues with frank which are imo on a personal level, which staff are corrupt?
BTW the staff not mentioned above I'm not saying you don't help out, I'm just pointing out the staff who I've recently seen editing or giving out bans |

Just the truth SkipRat. It is HIS site. Lets face it. He has lost interest in this site for this very reason. These childish argument.
As I stated before in previous threads. I don't know any of you, who have posted in this thread so far. I mean in real life.
Nay, if my posts make you laugh, then I am glad. If they assume the rest of the mob that posts here every time one of you gets into an argument. Then good.  I'm learn a long time ago that word can never hurt me. Sticks and stones can. Unless I see you in person and you try and do physical harm then go ahead and talk/type whatever you want, as long as it's within the forum rules.
IF Garner thinks that it's me who is causing all these arguments, then he could remove me from staff and I wouldn't be upset with him. It's his site and he can do with it as he sees fit. As stated before, he could just one day decide that all this bickering is just not worth it. Which is why he won't bother posting here. I know he reads the forums but he rarely posts. Why should he, this is why the rest of the staff are here for. |

Oh really? Which one of these threads still exsist? Does anyone else even know that this has been going on for so long? Does anyone else have a pair big enough to stand up for themselves if they are censored and realizes that their censorship was wrong? No? Just me?
I will not give up. As long as Frank holds the power to change posts I will not let go. This has gone on for too long and I as well as many others do not enjoy being censored. If anyone else abuses their moderation rights I will not silently sit by and let it happen.
I'm tired of getting pushed around and I will no longer allow it. I had invested a good portion of time and effort contributing to this site in the past and this place had always been a home away from home for me and I will not see it be run by people who can't produce intelligent thoughts and decisions. In the end, it's the moderators jobs to keep the community functioning and working out problems between its users while trying to keep casulties to a minimum. I don't just mean slapping file updates from time to time. Any ape with a computer can do that since garner updated the admin panel back in 2004 or so.
Then everyone wonders where the small dwindling numbers of the L4Y RF community disappeared off to. Regardless of how smart or dumb they are, a member of the community is still a member. If you can encourage that member to become productive, great. Otherwise w/e, one more sheep to the herd. whoopee.
Bottom line is if I didn't care I wouldn't bother. I do care so I will bother, and you can't get me to un-care, or anyone else for that fact. Also, If I didn't think my opinions wern't for the better I wouldn't say anything anyway. If someone is acting like an idiot I will let them know. If someone is abusing their power I will let them and everyone else know. I refuse to see this site be run under such horrible circuimstances.
There are a large group of users here that display ignorance in such a manner that drives me mad. If everyone was a bit more helpful, and a lot less stupid, this community would probably stronger than it is now. And when I mean helpful I don't mean encouraging and praising mediocrity. |

When I last spoke to him he said its because of his job.
What I'm suggesting is perhaps we all band together and take ownership of the site? It might be his site, but whats the point in just leaving it to rot? |

If he wants to relinquish this site then that is his decision. I for one know if that happen, I would no longer be here.
I am only doing this for 2 reasons:
1. I still play Red Faction
2. To help Garner
I was asked by another staff member (former?) a long time ago if I wanted to be staff. It took me a while to say yes. Personally judging from what I've seen in these forums and other like it. I don't see why anybody would want do this without pay. I left this site before and I was asked if I wanted to come back. When I left the staff position, I never left the site. I continued to try to help people that needed help. I liked this site for the very reason that when somebody asked for help we all (as a community) try to help out. Unlike in the "official Red Faction Forums". Where it was true. I lot of the times, staff asked you to use the search feature. Lets face it a lot of the times when we have answered a question, we too have referred them to another site or to another thread.
I am troubled by a "certain" staff member becoming a staff member. Back in the day, admin actually voted on whether or not somebody should be allowed into staff. It was usually based on there conduct in these very forums. That really hasn't happen for quite a few newer positions. I too am to blame. I did bring in Killer without putting it to a vote (BTW he is not the one I am referring to). What is done is done.
I do find it funny that Daniel seems to think that I abuse my authority here when I rarely post here. I do read the threads but it's not like what I use to do...live in this site day and night. Even during work hours. I too have a life outside of here. L4Y is NOT a home away from home to me like with Daniel. |

Don't play dumb and dont even try to play the victim. Go back and read the topic from beginning to end. Also, I do remember being banned 1 or 2 times without prior notice or any reason afterward BY YOU in the past. But this isn't entirely about that, so don't even try. Also, telling you how to improve is not worth the time or effort. You will misread, miscomprehend, or ignore my suggestions in 1001 ways. For someone of your stature I can only recommend resignation. Believe me that this place has a much better chance at getting a lot more accomplished when you do.
Dont worry, you can still be a part of the community you have been strangling for years now. |

Welcome back crazyjack1994.
The site was rolled back to yesterday, because of the corrupt admin ( not me  ) many of the posts (about 20 of them) have been lost. 
I for one will no longer remove quotes from posts. I was just trying to makes things easier for others to follow, but since it seems to bug 'some people". I'll stop.  |

This thred/poll I originally started to hopefully have some admins stop and think about there actions. I never intended this thread to become such a flame war. Yes I did start this thread because of the RF disc1 missing thread being closed ......this has happened so many times in the past just when a thread got interesting to read. I wish for all to know that I did not have the foggyest idea who closed the thread and in no way have a personal vendetta against NCF......................indeed I am very grateful to NCF for when I first joined L4Y I could not find my RF discs and NCF kindly posted me a copy of both discs  without these I could not have continued mapping without shelling out more money for a game I allready owned. ( i have since found my original copys). All of these problems could IMO been resolved if an admin just posted "we are sorry you feel that way about the way the site is run, we will look into this and see weather or not any changes can be made to make your enjoyment of this site a more pleasent one". Constant bickering does not solve what needs to be done here. But I do agree with alot of the comments that have been made by mainly Skiprat and some of the members . But most of all I really would like to hear from Garner (as NCF said "it is his site and his decision") If he doesn't want to change the way admins run this site then are loss maybe. Or MAYBE just MAYBE the admins will in future think about these things and how they affect the members from the comments on this thread over the last few days. |

That thread lasted for 6 pages and considerin how controversial it is, i think you can feel lucky it keeps going, not talking about the potential frenzy it induced in skiprat.
I think we're blessed to have admins on l4y that kept it open and I thank them for their open minds because I'm sure it would have been closed a long time ago on other forums and even on this very site if we still had the staff we had in the past.
I'm actually amazed it's not locked.

I do agrree there molodiest, it is amazing it has not been locked......but if it was locked that would be only because the admins felt flamed not because of any swearing or inapproprate conduct. I did not realise what an interesting read this thread would become. I honestly expected most people to vote I don't really care. Only 1 of 3 things will be the outcome of this thread now:-
1 Everything carrys on as normal
2 The rules are changed and admins try to abide by them
3 An Admin/Admins resigns his post (I hope it doesn't come to that)
there is a 4th but hopefully it won't come to that. |
