First off, I would like to send my apologies for creating a new thread for this. I know this should of went to the "RF Pimp My Map" thread, but I was the last one posted and I was impatient to wait for someone to bump the thread.

Anyways, We all know that RF Grim Reaper still works on a RF project for Stargate, and judging by his work, he is making a single player mod for it.

Well, I set some time in my busy schedule to do some testing of my own, and pulled off, possibly the first ever Multiplayer Stargate. If I am wrong and someone has already done this, then that person can step up and let me know .

It still needs a lot of work done to it, but I am hoping that if I can get some better textures, some better effects like VBMs and stuff, I might be able to pull off a Awesome DM / CTF map with this in it.

Thanks for the input. Like I said, it is open to improvement. After all, this was just me testing to see if it would work. Since it does, I can pull a few maps out my CENSORED with it.

Answer to digital_ruler's post

Well in a sense, I was planning to make a spawn area that requires you to go through the teleporter, but the thing that can be thrown at me is that people can teleport kill, rather than spawn kill.
I don't know if any of you have ever played Stargate Resistance? You are required to go through a Stargate after you spawn to get into the main world. If I am able to project the same effect into RF, it could result in some really awesome game play, but I aint sure of it yet.

It will need more playing around.

Yeah the teleport tunnel, or in this case "Worm Hole", will need a better texture. I realised that when I was look around for one and could not find one to use. But since I was testing, I just decided to play around with a quick texture for the mean time.

I can't see that happening. I can however see some very slow and gimmicky gameplay.

the most annoying is the shape of the wormhole. It looks like a square and it should be a circle (or a least an octogon) like in the show

I have a couple of MP maps in the works for SGMod.

Where i've used the gate as a means of transport I found you must have a way of either protecting the gate area for the team coming through or have the other team teleport into the map elsewhere. (Gould ships do have teleporters )

The "spawn killing" issue could easily be solved with a moving exit point. That is, assuming the teleport target can function as a mover.

Noticed it sure, but random is always bad for gameplay.

I know I mentioned "Gameplay" earlier on, but why does it always have to be Gameplay? Why not fun? Does anyone associate with the word "Fun", or is it all now serious gameplay for Red Faction now?
It really grinds on me when I hear people talking about "Gameplay", and "Performance" and other related stuff, because Red Faction is 8 years old, computers are 8 years ahead of it, so all this non-sense about Gameplay and performance is complete bollucks.

I ran into a simular issue about Danger Canyon 3 where I was being told that it lacks performance and gameplay.

I, as a mapper, make maps for fun gaming, so from here on then, I do not wish to see anyone post in any topics that I make about performance or gameplay when I wish to show or display stuff.

We are now in the era of better technology. Faster processors, better graphics cards, Motherboards being able to take more than 16GBs of RAM. I make my maps around the specs of what my computer can handle, so if your's can't, im afraid its just tough...
