Hey
How do u customize animations using milkshape?
I loaded model, pose_male, .skd file, and animation, but when ever I try to edit the selected joint in the joint tab, .

it messes up model

I am unable to move skeleton in this condition. What do I need to do/ am I doing wrong?
Thank you

Straight from one of the tutorials:
If you just see a mess of blue lines, click File >Preferences, then the Misc tab, and change the Joint Size to "0.025000". Hit OK and everything should be looking good. |

Editing the default animations can be really tricky in MS3d I've found. Even if I have only one keyframe at the start and one at the end and delete all the keyframes in between and play the animation, there's a frame or two during the animation that will still insist on reverting back to where it was. And there's no way to isolate it (that I know of) to sort it out. So I end up with a very jumpy animation as it jerks around.
My advice is to make one yourself, you can come up with whatever you can imagine and with patience, you can get some good results. I've done 3 animations in the last two days for my mod and I'm happy with them. |

Editing the default animations is quite easy, and to quickly eliminate the problem of a "rebel" frame you have to simply reverse the entire animation (using the Reverse Animation tool under the Animate tab), add a frame by increasing the numbers in the left-down corner of the screen and you will discover this "hidden" frame that it's not showed by Milkshape in first place (you never asked yourself why there's an empty frame at the end of every original animation?).
Other than this I never had difficulties when editing original anims. |

Well thats cool then, and good on you for working it out, thanks for sharing the info. Never asked myself about the empty frame as I wasn't that interested in solving the issue. 9 times out of 10 I want to make something from scratch. |

Thanks, I also usually create an animation from scratch, when I start from an original animation is becouse I want to make my animation perfectly blends to the standard ones and so I keep the starting position (or similar). |

Mmm... In the last week I've created a shooting anim for the silenced that resembles the one from Splinter Cell Conviction (becouse I will use it for my Mark&Execute feature) and a Syringe Healing animation like the one in FarCry 2.
However I don't have time to make a video, I have an exam the day after tomorrow, but I will make a couple of videos this weekend, and maybe I will make other videos revealing some of the new features from my mod.
PS: Yes, I have new anims also for wall cover (one & two handed and stand & crouch) and for a couple of secondary weapons (and I've nearly finished the new shootdodges). |

Quoting Slayer_blood | it's very easy to animate on milkshape... |
This depends by the quality level of the animation that you want to have and by the kind of the animation. No offence but I can't find an easier animation to do than a shooting animation...
Try to create a good full body animation or a subanimation, you will realize that it can be quite difficult.
PS: Yes, my Syringe Healing animation it's a subanimation made using Milkshape that plays when hitting the painkillers button, also with correct new&used epinephrine syringe skin item and used syringe level item, with special injection sound (part of the sound was provided by Slayer_blood, from L4D), with painkillers replaced by epinephrine packs and with proper screen effects, different by the depth of the bt. |

Quoting Skilz | yeeha
my idea did its way to payne effects 3 |
Yes! And sorry if I haven't credited you for the idea, in that moment I don't remembered who suggested this to me...
But don't worry, you will be credited in the (long) "Thank you" list when my mod will be released.
PS: I must admit that it was a pain in the CENSORED to code this function, but I'm very proud of the result. |

Sorry but I don't wanna that Max explores me from the inside... However yes, you are absolutely right. |

Ah so when you hit the painkiller button you see Max playing the shoot_beretta anim eh?
There's always the newbie that comes and says "why you spent so much time making such easy thing!? It was sufficient to do this and this and you are done!" assuming that the experienced modders are stupids and he is a genius, without having ever watched into it (to not talk about trying it by himself...). Well, I've something to say, there's nothing in the player code that is really working when you use the paikillers, so please next time think before saying CENSORED , and this is why I said that it was very difficult to do, try to see by yourself (at least this) and maybe you will realize it. |

Awesome! can't wait to see this
Thanx alot it was just the size of the joints that was problem everything else easy.
Yea, based from tutrurial, it looks more efficient to animate with 3dsmax. Too bad it only works with 5.1
Ur right Orbine, with full body anims, it much easier to make than edit |

Quoting Fr0z3n77 | thats not corect when he starts his first mod he asked a lot....not yet! |
I know that every modder starts small, and I remember also that I always tried to do something by myself before talking, before asking someone else to do it for me and before assuming that it's easy and the others wasted time to do such easy things, so remember this. |

I know mate, I already said that I like and agree with your behaviour. If only everyone acted in the same way...
PS: Ah and I have to say that I like the video! Only one thing, the skeleton death should be fixed as naspter said days ago (more bones and appear lower), btw it's not you fault. |
