What I meant is: They removed his face (again...), they removed his voice (the first game had an awesome dub, one of the best in my country), they changed his body (detective before, john mclane now), they removed his leather jacket (and for the character it was as important as the raincoat of Columbo), they removed the graphic novels, they removed the noir city, they removed his signature gun (and every hard boiled fan knows how much important was the beretta, Remedy knows too) and mostly they removed the noir atmosphere (almost every review I read confirms).
So the gameplay alone doesn't make a good max payne sequel but only a good tps, every key aspect of the original max payne is changed, there's no need for a famous name if the game is good, call it Men On Fire at least.
Lets take the example of the tv series Columbo, change his face (and give him... big moustaches  ), change his voice and body (it must be a hero so give him more muscles), remove his signature raincoat (the new dress must be as different as possible so... a stupid looking hawaii shirt  ), then change also the setting (no more american city, doesn't fit with the shirt so... hawaii  ), change the unique way it tells the story (so from the unique "the spectator knows the killer from the start" to a more common "you will discover the bad guy at the end), and only clumsily keep the genre.
What we have is NO MORE Columbo, it's still a good crime detective drama but then call it Magnum P.I.  |

I'm glad that you see what you want to see, but what I see are facts, the facts I mentioned, also becouse following your post means that Stranglehold is max payne becouse it have shootdodges and slowmotion, oh wait it is even more max payne than max payne 3 becouse at least the hard boiled aspect actions and look is strong, so it's closer to the real max payne than the game they call max payne 3.
Anyway I'm glad that it is an awesome tps, I always had no doubts about that, let's hope rockstar makes a sequel to this new tps francise, sales are good too so... |

Exactly. That's why I say that it's not a true max payne, becouse it's the max payne gameplay without the key elements of max payne just like was stanglehold (obviously the most recent game is a better tps in every aspect), except this one have max payne 3 written on the cover. |

That's a very naive post, what you say could be true for real life but surely not for a fictional character, if you change the key elements that makes it what it is than you can keep his name but it will not be the same.
Anyway, what I was saying is that it's not a true max payne sequel becouse almost every key aspect of max payne was changed, and I already explained that with facts and examples, so you can call the protagonist Max Payne and pretend to be a max payne sequel becouse of that, but the fact is that to be a sequel it must keep the aspects that characterized the previous titles and made them unique, if theese things are gone even the series is gone and what you have is a tps with the character that have the same name of another one. |

I agree with VGames, it's still Max Payne and it rocks (same voice actor: James McCaffrey, and the new Max is not that different from the previous one).
Anyway, those of you who long for the old-shcool Max, check this out!
Now, the only thing I worry about is that I'll need a PC made in Nasa to play the game maxed out |

From what I read it seems that it is surprisingly optimized, completely another story compared to GTA4, maybe this time rockstar commissioned the work to someone that knows how to do it...
Anyway I read also more confirmations that the noir aspect is definately gone, that the characters lack of charisma compared to the ones of the true max payne titles, that the split screen effects are irritating and far from being comparable to the unique beauty of the graphicnovels, that the subtitles are too small and with a color that almost all the time confuses with the background and the screen effects, and since rockstar refused to spend some money for the classic dub of the first two titles we have to read them instead of following the action on screen (all the italians misses the awesome and professional dub of Giorgio Melazzi, it was one of the best videogames dub I've ever heard).  |

Arhh the discussion continues even though the game is out and proves everything different?
The only key element there is missing is the graphic novels. Wich you barely miss once you get into the game, as the way the story handles really works well for Max.
-Shootdodges - Check.
-Beretta - Check
-Max's in head voice - Check.
-Leather jacket - Check.
-Captain baseball bat boy - Check.
-Great story - Check.
-Over the top action - Check.
-Psycho's - Check. (FYI, they missed that part in mp2, where we instead got boring plane bosses)
-Dark gritty noir universe that drags you in - Check.
-Flaming hell around max - Check.
If somethings missing feel free to point out.
So the game is still noir and the exact same amount as mp1 and 2. It's still dark and girtty. Even more than before. A key scene in the game proves that sao paulo is even worse than what new york ever threw at Max. The psycho's in MP3 is crazy
Max voice is the same as always, same tone and everything. Only thing is, he's in more dialogue than we're used too. And he swears alot
I loved every second of the game. And from your post's it doesnt seem like you even played the game, so i'd recommend that as you can't base your POV on reviews and say it's facts, as i've read and watched reviews that says it stays true to max. Wich it does. Fact
The only bad things i've encountered are i was one of the unlucky people who got to download 35 gigs of mp3 to find out it doesnt work. And it still doesnt seem like they've fixed that problem.
Second, is the controls. With the cover function, ots aim, vault etc. It's kind of hard to make natural controls for that on the keyboard. like one thing like switching camera to left/right shoulder is placed on h, wich for me seems like a weird spot to suddenly hit when in combat. |

You could have said simply that you liked how they changed the brand instead of piling of so much CENSORED s...
But I'm tired to talk with you about this argument becouse you proved to be blind about it even from the first posts of this thread, I'm glad for you all that likes what they made to max payne, but don't fools yourselves with stupid arguments trying to prove things that doesn't exist (IE, beretta, or dub, or his whole looking, etc). 
PS: Ah and I'm not based only on "official" reviews but mostly on user's reviews, written by players that loved the true max payne for what it was, and I reported what they says, sooo... |

I just pointed out key elements that you said were missing, cause of your ignorance on the subject or mis-informations. You decide.
Max with hair and leather jacket is there. And if you played it you'd know he goes most of the game with hair. Yes he doesnt wear the leather jacket the whole game. But as i recall you make him lose it in your payne effects mod aswell.
When saying dub i think you refer to music. When you dub something it usualy changing voices to another language. No it's not Giorgio Melazzi or whatever you call him. The band Health that does the music for the game does one hell of a good job. The original max payne theme is done beautiful from these young guys.

Really? You want to go with that argument? Dude, i can find "true max payne" lovers that says mp3 is a great max payne game.
Play the game. Otherwise you cant argue on the subject. |

I don't want to start this argument again as I said, but being called ignorant was bad, I promised myself to not reply again becouse it was clearly useless and just made me feel bad, but Andersen please check again for example if the Beretta is in MP3 and who is Giorgio Melazzi. No need to reply, just check for yourself please. |
