I've been Mapping with REDMOD, Its enabled in RED Editor and I'm wanting to port it to normal ReadFoction. It's OK in the normal RF editor and I can save it/create VPP but once I attempt to play it in normal RF, it fails to load the level . Is there a way to change it back from the mod to normal RF. So it can be played in normal RF. -Thanks for your time and any answer would be much appreciated!

In my ~10 years of mapping I've only ever found one way to go to stock RF (modless) from a mod-enabled level file - and that's by exporting the entire thing as one big group (watch out with your moving groups if applicable) and loading it into a blank file in modless RED. You'll then of course have to redo level properties (fog settings, level name, author name, etc.) in the new file and resave it.

BTW - your lobby remake looks pretty neat

Edit that file in notepad and you'll do nothing except corrupt it.

Someone could code a converter if they really wanted to - but it's a complete waste of time when you can just export a group.

It wouldn't be a waste of time it would prove very, very useful to me, many of times!

I think exporting Groups is a waste of time it causes no end of problems / errors and crashes. And it has to be done small bit at a time. It's very painstaking when you have so much key-frames, brush vertexes, lights, objects and then you have all the linked items which must be kept linked when exporting... then theirs the case of air + solid brushes mixing up.

You could say: Why didn't I build it in Normal RF to begin with? I don't really have a answer for that except everything I do is in REDMOD. I've customised Red and the Mod to my liking and to make it easier/quicker for me to map, and for me that is normal RF.

If I could simply convert the map from mod to normal RF.. well I'd love that person for ever!
I hope that it could be done in REDPF a option in Level properties.

Dude, its really not that hard. Just select all the key-frame groups and move them 64 meters 4 times to like the left or something. (do this for all keyframes so they will keep the same orientation to each other.) I did this with my runmap (lots of keyframes) and 4x times the limits of red (split into p.1 p.2) and I never had a problem with groups.

Thanks Ice I may try it some time. I am a bit confused by what you meant though when you said move them 64 meters away. You know if you add all the key-frames to another group and make them 1 key-frame, then change the properties to rotate in place, they shouldn't move on their own when red saves.

------------

Exporting groups function is useful. I had a map, but it got corrupted, and it wouldn't
load up and kept on crashing Red when trying to load, I made an island map.

Thought i lost everything, I turned off all rendering, went into group mode, salvaged
parts of the map I wanted and saved it as separate groups.

Exited out of Red, rebooted Red, turned off Autosave.

Reloaded back the groups into a blank editor and
it worked ok after that. I didn't have movers i my map though.
Red limits breached?, Yep, (20,000 fces and its still going !)    Modified Oct 17th, 02:24am by Enforce
