RC3 - Portal 2 is now in development. I am starting from scratch as I did not keep my previous save when I un-installed RF.

All screenshots and info will be posted here so watch this space .

The first annoying part is over and done with which is obtaining the textures needed for the map from Portal 2.

Using .net paint and a vtf plugin for it, I was able to open all of the texture files within the game and convert 40% of them to TGA format.

Now the construction and planning of the map has begun.

It good to be back in the RF Community. I had such a laugh yesterday when I played on a Death Match server called 20Hz.
The server got quite busy than I expected.

Nah, im not doing the room with the pipes. Im starting you off in a hotel room, thats actually one of those big freight boxes. Just like in Portal 2 .

You are all going to love the intro to this map.

You start off in a hotel looking room, you hear an annoucement that goes through the mandatory physical and mental wellness exercise. You will be asked to look at the celling, the floor and asked to stare at a picture framed photo.
If the picture framed photo did not provide the intellectual sustenance, then you can reflect briefly on this track of classical music.
You will then be asked to go back to your bed. When you wakeup, the whole room is old, raggy and looks way different to the room you were in before .

How does it work?
The first room you were in will move down (the whole room is a mover). When it moves down, you will see the walls fade black, as if you were falling asleep. Above you is the second room that moves in to the first rooms position as it is too a mover.
When your first room hits the floor, you will be teleported in to the second room.

This also has no effect on you spawning because the second room stays in place all the way through the map . Here is a screenshot below.

Why not just black out the player with that one event (can't remember the name - maybe just Black_Out_Player?) and then teleport them to the second room (which is always stationary)? This would solve join late issues, make the map a whole lot more stable, and make it perform a lot better.

We discussed that too. What I need done for this is a fade in and fade out effect both ways.
Fade in - player is waking up.
Fade out - player has gone back to bed
Fade in - player wakes up again after being in suspension for 999,999,999,999,999 (recurring)

The Black_Out_Player effect does not work. The texture over screen event does not work with VBMs and does not fade neither.

Fog_State should work as long as you MAKE SURE you use a solo PF trigger.
