I've only managed to do it one way - and that way is extremely annoying and lengthy.

I can't remember what program I used. But you run the game with it when you load a level and walk about textures get stored in your computers memory, then they can be extracted.

I didn't try it with RF2 but it worked with almost every game.
Some one may know what I'm talking about. It was a long time ago.

Ok. I found a program that sort of supports extraction of RF2 files.

Found here >http://www.watto.org/extract/info.html

Game Extractor made by Watto Studio's. Supports a lot of games. The interface requires Java. For RF2, the supported games section states that some archives are writable

I tried Watto Game Extractor with no luck, also dragon unpacker even with the brute force method.

Ric, can you find the program for me. It does sound promising!

Cheers

Ok cool it works, BUT saves the geometry textures as 128x128 is this really the maximum they used?

probably, for geometry.

in rf 1, if you increase the resolution of geometry, it looks really bad. not sure how it works in rf 2.

All is good, Must be 128x128 because RF2 was mainly built for Consol tut tut.

Texture are looking good in RED.

Have fun opening an archive containing a bunch of files with an extension no one knows how to open

But yea, DXRipper is about the only way.

how do you import 3d models to RED though?

@Frog: You don't need to use the name of any existing meshes, it'll work with its own name.

Also, Frog is right. Be very careful when importing meshes, and if it causes a hole, do not just hit "is detail" and think its fixed, go fix it.
