Here is a list of the limits for RF maps:

Faces 10500
Face Vertices 50400
Vertices 13650
Lights on a face 63
Lights in a level 1000
Clutter objects 512
Entities 64 (for SP maps)
Decal objects 96
Items 200
Corpses in a level 30 (for SP maps)

i know you can have alooot more entitys than that, i have tested it with somewhere around 400 but the framerate drops to unreasonable levels with that many things on screen.

Interesting. I am lighting a map at the moment. I got the purple faces come up for too many lights on a face. Things is: once the map had been portalled it stopped the problem. So i guess its 64 lights on a face within the same portal ?

It may be the same for AI. THey have the option to be rendered for the whole game or not.

i have had around 400 AI in one room once
they were all riot guards with rocket laucnhers and batons they beat me up and here is another test with regular guards

so oviosly wherever that number 64 came from its way off

Well obviously we are interpreting the limits differently. If you can show me a map with all those limits maxed and then add your 400 AI, then maybe I will believe you.
If I ever get to where I am going, will I know when I am there?

no matter how you interpit it the limit is definitly not a concreat 64, where did that number come from anyways? i wonder if the other limits are flexible to?

If you come over a limit i CAN give problems. That doesn't mean you have them already.
EDIT: for example the amount of decals in the art of war
However in a normal singleplayer map the number of entitys is only 30-50.

I reckon the limits will vary from PC to PC.
Personally I never really think about the limits when mapping, apart from number brushes. You have to remember that its not just you thats going to play a map.

For instance my maps are played every day on the ISM servers, and each player has a differnt PC so I have to remember that when mapping, you cant just max out RED just because you have a powerfull PC.

To answer GTAs question, those figures came with the RED help update file.

When making maps, just keep in mind RF was NOT designed for the high-end comps we see today. Like, it doesn't like Hyperthreading CPU's and so on. Stay inside the given limits, and you should be safe everyone can play your maps
If you go over 200 items as an example, they will start going invisible

that i had once and NCF told me i had over 200 items in my very first map what was it?......ummm.... now i remember its called ctf-Huge Space though trust me its ok but i highly recommend 10 ppl or more lol (trust me the maps name said it all) now if only ppl would dl that one and maybe sumone could host a server with it then maybe i could rest in peace oh and GTA u got raped it looks like lol and for the 2nd pic it looks like a huge army ready for war! lol i have nothing to fear when i master RED (maybe in 1 more year haven't mastered face mode and carving, extruding, etc.) and then i hope i can make ...my true SP
