Yes, you need to forward the port that you want to use on your router.
The default port for Red Faction is 7755.

If you have a LINKSYS router then Email me at

ncfrank@comcast.net

And I will send you back a toturial on how to do it for RedFaction.

You will need to forward port 7755 like Mononucleosis said in the previous post.

ok if you have lynksis.. go and open IE (internet explorer) and in the address bar. type 192.168.1.1 and it will ask u for user and pass. for user leave blank and pass put admin
ok you will see a tab where says games and applications. (some like that) if u have email (or msn) let me know it i will send u a picture..

ok.. in application put rf.exe in start put 7755 in end put 7755 in protocol put both in ip address put yyour ip address (to know your ip go to start>run type cmd then in the new black window type ipconfig) some results should come out. telling you your ip.. it should be xxx.xxx.x.100 or .101 or .102 etc. type the last 3 #s in the ip and enable it.. and then click save settings.

NEXT.. open you rf laucher and go to setup then in the network tab.. after that. you will see a little box in the bottom that says FORCE LOCAL PORT. in there type 7755 and click ok.. and thats all.. have fun with your.. new servers.

It is so sad that this question hasn't been answered but here it goes:
Get it here:

RF Server Assist 4

It is used only to make/run a dedicated server on a separate PC.

hey Frank while we are on the subject ..is it correct that if I run RFSA 4 on my pc and force a different port for rf.exe that i can join my own server on the same pc?

Sorry about opening an old thread but i didnt look at the date and i cant delete this now.. but it is relevant

i use linksys and some of that is way different then what i have to do.

i have to click on the advanced tab, then the forwarding tab. set the port, and the ip address.

i guess it all depends on what router version u have,,i use a wireless-B router
