I had an idea for an RF mapping competition with a bit of a twist.

In this, instead of creating a level, compeditors try to create a work or art (sculture etc) in an RF level.

The sculture can be of anything, it would be pretty cool. Instead of focusing on gameplay, they simply create amazing levels of detail and great textures. I was thinking if this went okay, we could compile all the entries together into one level, and call it 'The Gallery' or something, where you can view them all.

Just thought it might be a cool idea? I'd like to play with this idea, so feedback is greatly appreciated

Could we enter just a group in? 'Cause I have my M1A1 Abrams tank.

Well its not the map we're looking at. It's the sculpture inside the map.

I like your group idea lacrosse, that could work nicely.

I got the idea from this map http://www.levels4you.com/review.l4y?file=10931

And thought it would be cool to run a bit of a comp. So the map itself is undetailed, but you create something beatiful inside it

Just ran this throught a translator, hope its good.

Can tell you before this even starts who would win. Sorrow. That is if she still maps for RF. She has more art and flare for artistic maps, than any other I have seen.
Go away, or I will replace you with a tiny shell script!

Sorrow doesn't exist anymore. The last I heard she was pleased that she managed to free up 5 gig on her hard-drive by deleting all things to do with Red Faction. Damn philistine

I like the idea of the Art Comp. Would be better if the maps were playable too, otherwise there's no real point. I already have my idea so....

Sticking some google-found gallery pics into a map doesnt make you an artist in my books.

Back on topic...
This could be a good idea, but I think it should be themed, liked the RFU maps, otherwise its just gonna 20+ groups of random stuff.

I suggest a simple theme like SCI-FI.. so folks could make models/groups of spaceships/aliens etc

The maps I am referring to did not have Google images in them But where art due to the content, and quality of the work.

Namely:Sorrow's Gothica, Sorrow's Cemetary, Black & White Gallery, City of Sorrow & Sorrow's Marble Rail.

Those are art for the way in which she made or makes her maps. The textures, the music and the gameplay are all taken into acount. The overall map is all well thought out.
That is art in and of itself.

elliooo make dimensions that the statue has to fit in. I will enter but it doesnt have to be a comp. just work toward making the gallery level. (or musem).
Goober, if you're reading this. Stop reading peoples signatures and learn how to use UnrealScript or something!!!!
