Using particle emitters it could done I think, but it must be very hard to do, You must use some particle emiters with a rain like picture, and have it fall down with quick speed. Only It would look wierd that the rain woul'n't make any impact when falling on the ground. But that can maybe compensated by adding a raining sound.
Its probably hard to do, but i Don't think it is impossible. |

Check out DM_RF_Manor We had some rain going on on the top of the manor there, you can get up by means of the bath ride or there's a ladder in the master bedroom.
Have a look in RED and you'll notice there are a load of particle emitters set at different heights to achieve this look.
We kept it to a small area tho, if you had a large open map with hundreds of Particle Emitters the framerate in your level would drop significantly.
Be sparing with them and copy the properties of the PE's that I put in the above map and it should be cool. You may want to increase the decay (the distance they travel) and have them higher off the floor. But most importantly, use them in moderation.
It is however difficult to achieve a good rain effect even if you go overboard. It worked for us against the night sky because the area was small as well and didnt need a vast amount of PE's there.
Check it out and see what ya think. |

i tried having rain in A1_hottropics, and thats a large map. i managed to get it to fall right and even collide with the world properly, but the light sky made it nearly impossible to see. initially i had set way too many PEs, and the frame rate fell horribly. so to counter that problem i removed more than half of them, increased the "random direction" in the properties of the remaining, until i had a satisfying "light" sprinkle that IMO seemed pretty realistic.
but like i said....you had to be looking for it to see it, because of the chosen light/fog colors in my map. thats why i went without it. so, if you do want rain...id pick a good light and skybox thatll allow the particles to stand out.
Oh and starting with the emitters from rf_manor is a great idea to get ya rollin. that map is beautiful. |

Yes..Particle emitters can splash into more water. You can see that in MicroFactor3,a map by Hell Hunter, and an ISM map that Fate stated.Just check collide with world and make sure there is an area of liquid below it for it to splash with |

can't you see the water?!Are you high??
You add a Room Effect and make that Room Effect Liquid Room then there is water inside whatever you placed it inside. And then you add a particle emitter to drop into it.
You see the water and the particle emitter and the particle emitter splashing into the water.... |

i think hes thinking of having it splash without having liquid on the floor.
you might be able to accomplish this by having the height of the water in the liquid room set to the minimum.=(0.01) i think. i havnt actually tried that, but it sounds good.
give it a shot, and let us know what happens. |

that would make the water TGA just above the surface, but if you change it to a random TGA, and make sure it moves via 'Waveform' it should then make the Surface TGA disappear. |
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:
