I was aware a while back that AusFaction had a file you could Download that enabled higher resolutions to run at the same performance as 640x480. I was just curious seeing as I play RF on my relatively new Computer when AusFaction turned off, and I hope anyone who's been on AusFaction, has the file to upload somewhere for me.

You can't make the game run with 640x480 performence on higher resolutions, but you can boost the performence to a level allowing you to play at higher resolutions with sufficient frame-rates.

I recommend the 3D Rendering Cache Hack. It's made by the same person as the resolution hack, and actualyl does increase performence (at least on video cards with more than 32 MB of internal memory).

Mike im curious, I believe I downloaded that but after setting it to the highest 'Safe' Measurement on the Chart I didn't notice any difference as such in Performance. Did I do something wrong? Do I have to play with it in the Background?
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

IF you look at the reviews, they are pretty mixed. It increased majorly for some and not much for others. Perhaps yours was already running great and you didnt notice a change.

Quoting Mighty Mike
on video cards with more than 32 MB of internal memory

It doesn't work on Intergrated Graphics? Ah yes, I see, It's not working for me.

Well thanks all for contributing, but I remember that these were not the thing I as talknig about.

If anyone specifically knows what I'm talknig about, then I'd be very much abliged if you speak up. To help you, It's something that you only had to run once, and it fixes the Game, something like that. and In the read me it showed that Resolutions higher than 640x480 runned like 640x480, except the highest one.

Please help.

Beat, I personally tested it only with only one or two settings. 128 MB seems to work nice for me, though 64 isn't bad either. If you were using some higher cache capacity, try setting it lower.

elliooo, I don't know about the others, but let me describe the improvement for me: before, playing at resolutions 1024x768 and above, the frame-rate was often dropping to 20 FPS and below, and naturally there was some tearing and screen-lag that just didn't feel right. With the hack, the FPS on the same resolution are usually floored to the 38 FPS vsync cap. Rarely do I see it dropping lower.

Dorling, let's call it "video components" if you will. The problem with on-board graphics accellerators is that they tend to be much weaker than your standard VGA cards. I don't know about not working, but even the most advanced integrated cards aren't too good for 3D gaming (correct me if I'm wrong...).

The more pixels the system has to deal with per time unit, the worse the performence will be. Nothing can change that. All you can do is optimize or get better hardware that performs well enough at higher resolutions.

I understand, however, I definately know that there was a file that fits what I explained. It was on AusFaction once. I still wait for any news.
