If I click on Lazyban to go into RF I get this message

Does this mean a re-installation is due? |

I had the same message happen to me before, and had to reinstall. I think it is the .exe file that has acted up on you |

Thanks Lace but I have managed to get to the bottom of it...
I was at work with my tower when I was getting the error message. I brought the PC home, plugged it in and ran Lazyban and would you believe it? No problems at all!!
It would appear that Red faction has a built in detection system that investigates what location you are at and if it thinks you are trying to scive off work then it won't let you
So there's a lesson to be learnt here then |

You do not have to reinstall, I can't remember offhand what the problem is, but I remember I and many others have had it before.
What version of DirectX are you using? Update to the latest version, also grab the newest version of your graphics drivers. If these things don't work, or if you're already updated, then try back dating a bit to older versions.
Edit:- Read your last post, solution is still the same, but are you sure your work h/w is good enough 2 run RF too?

Just be glad that didnt happen to your RED Editor (I know you are a mapper dont deny it ), I was gonna fiddle aroud n try to figure RED out one day and the message popped up. I reinstalled and everything, but the message kept popping up. I finally realized my computer was screwed and soon the same would happen to everything else on it. I ended up gettin a new comp for x-mas and the world was happy again, and they all lived happily ever blah blah blah.... |

Ya - These things would randomly popup back in the days. I had it a couple of times, but found it easy to fix. Computers are strange like that...

P.S. Custom build your own PC to save those pennys, it's not very hard to do. Oh and with the wrong software, these faults WILL occur on alienwares PC's. Not that there is anything wrong with Alienware, I wouldn't mind if anyone would like to donate me one of their laptops. Seriously though if anyone is silly enough to buy new hardware over a software problem, please send me your old hardware. |

Actually there is a limit in lot's of cases but it is quite random from box to box.
Symptoms are generally you can't join a server with a map you know you have. However no one really knows why this limit is caused, and some why it only affects certian maps randomly choosen by some retardedness if your RF.
It's entirly possible that you've passed your limit and would not know if it affected only maps you don't play. On the other hand, it's quite possible that it just didnt affect you at all...
Regardless of you, it effects a hell of a lot of people, so is generally considered a limit of sorts. Can't remember when, I think average is 300 Megs...
