When running RF itll crash after trying to join a game or a slow start up can anyone give some advise on runnin im still looking at it more just though id post up too.
JUst trying to make a temp ded to run about 12 hrs or so sure this wont be a big problem.
soon to have or maybe get more sticks or ram for this computer should hold everything i need to run at once.
A few things... 1)Set your desktop color quality to 16-bit 2)Right click the RF.exe and click properties then click the Compatability tab. Then change compatability to Windows 98 3)When running RFSA4(updated) where it says Force Port type in 7756 then launch it 4)Start the RF launcher and click on Setup and then click on Network and where it says Force Local Port make sure the number is 7755
You also need it set to that number to play on your own server

Two questions for you:
1. Are you running on separate PC?
2. If you aren't, using a separate machine then when you join, do you join by the Internet address (as you would any other server) or using the LAN IP. If the answer is Internet then try joining using your LAN IP address to the server PC. See if that fixes your problem.

Frank......I am helping here....
The hoser still hasn't answered any of the questions.
that happens to me when i leave the force local point is the same in the launcher and RFSA i think thats probably all.
but leave the 7755 in the laucnher and the 7756 in the RFSA if u leave another local pint in the laucnher ive had veeeerrryy slow times of getting servers.

For dedicated RF servers you shouldn't check the compatability mode. (WinXP)
When I do this, the whole Desktop dissapears when I click outside of the server window.
(if someone gets this error press ctrl+alt+del and click on "add new task" type in "C:" OK. The desktop and taskbar should appear again.)

another reason my red crashed 10 times do to crap was not working just think red is more troble than its worth so im moving on reds old the ping lag suck when ppl shooting at ya just aint real enough
another thing that could cause ur rf to crash when running a dedi is if you have auto messaging on. at least for me everytime it types a message it crashes my rf if im playing. idk if this is ur problem but try disabling auto messaging if you have it on.

Hey Trump! BITE ME! lol jk i dont like giving big statements about needing alot of help. I try to express shorter term and words for what I need or MIGHT need.
Yes I did ask out of the blue b4 I made a last min thought. Another reason because I have to reinstall the damn thing everytime something screws up its just annoying.
And another thing I really hate typing cause I either cant spell. Or I never make any since out of anything im talking about.
ANd end up with these long post even without the double + spaces.
Dvl: nah it aint my problem it just wouldnt let me join or see servers and such but my DSL connecting aint a problem.
Maybe it has to do with me being on a router, or my network thats connecting my old computer wireless with my ps2 and this computer only ones running to it.

Can u really play on ur own dedicated server?
Example: Default port in RF is 7755 so once you've started your dedi server start RF, go into set up and under the network tab force a different port like 7756. (Or do it the other way around. 7756 for dedi and 7755 for game).
That's it isn't it? I used to just direct people to Ausfaction's nice little tutorial but you can't trust the down under people for anything. Too much blood rushing to their heads I say.
Anyway somebody will be on in a minute to explain it in detail if you need it.
