The handle for the lightsabre looks sweet.. but the blade itself looks a bit naff.. not cos of the thickness but because I used 4 planes to create a volume light effect.. but it didnt really work too well.

Im gonna try another technique for the blade... Oh and the Sound FX Ive got are amazing. Their from a star wars fan film site... and they bring it to life... like when u holster/draw it goes vvvshhhhhhh... etc etc.. oh yeah star wars rules

already spoken to Deisel about it. Its slightly harder work than what he was planning but I think hes gonna give it a shot

back to the origanal subject for a second.

after the LIGHTSABERS are done who would like to test the TC for any bugs or any discrepancies that you may have with the mod.

example "i think the ammo in for both the clip in ur gun and the holding clip it self should be smaller for more realisim"

Ok Redi-kinght (aka- Mad Ferrit) and myself tested the lightsabres in Multiplayer.

Theres a few glitches just now which will have to be ignored ;P, or fixed.

1 - you dont hear the other players lightsabre, unless it hits you, or causes some GEO (yes you can do GEO with the lightsabers )

2 - The 3rd person model looks really DULL.. and I still dont know why this is.. the texure is 100% white in the core. A bit more trial and error should solve this.

Theres probably more.. but meh.. ferrit might be able to tell us.

This pic shows the test level I built for trying out the sabres... set in Mos Eisley.. oh and do you recognise that ship?

On a few pictures the light saber isn't bright enough. It should be illuminated like a bolt.

I made a pistol once with a laser sight (like the shotgun in Q3) and had the same problem as you. I don´t remember if I ever solved the problem but here are two suggestions.

1: Raise the self illumination to maximum in the material editor in max. Then apply an sub or add filter under extended parameters and raise the amount to maximum.

2: Apply a flag to the object. Right-click the sword and choose properties. Click user defined tab and type in fullbright.

The second will probably not work because it´s for vfx files, but it might be worth a try. A third solution could be to make a custom corona, but I have never done that and don´t know how to apply it.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this is!!! I hate the baton and can't use it (56k) but I don't care, I am actually holding a light-sabre. Just running around swinging the damn thing and hearing the sjhuuuuum noise is more than enough I think you got the swinging action perfect for both 1st and 3rd person models, looks real clean. Maybe a double swipe or something on the secondary fire if that's possible. Maybe a jab or maybe when they use it as a shield to deflect bullets. Is that possible?

The sound of sabre on flesh is a beauty to behold Classic stuff.

It is quite brilliant, and using it to tunnel through geo and bash walls down with it is the icing on the cake! Smashing up the Lobby with a lightsabre was just ridiculously amusing

I can't wait to see the finished article Somebody help, make a Darth Vader skin or something! Awesome, awesome work man

The secondary fire should be some kind of shield effect to block attacks (but with a lighsaber's skin. Then we could have some real light saber fights with the proper noise when parrying.

i did not know that RED faction was capible of achiveing saber wall marks

that would be redundeint sence the saber replaces the ROIT SHEILD. i agree with mad_ferrit that when the saber does block an attack be it from a gun or another saber it should have some kind of parry animation to go along with it.

I decided to remake my deathstar map. so if u would like it for the mod, then u can. i aslo found some of my old star wars maps i didnt release and were in the works. Cloud City and such. care for any of them?

Here is a Lightsabers Only Level.

i think it would be really fun running around fighting with sabers only


i just edited my SW3 map. its only based in that room, but areas that shoot u up to different spots. so u can jump and run around in all that. hope u like it!
