Alright.... let me help some of you out... I live in America and this site helped me to find my ADSL connection that I was told by Verizon "didn't exist!"

Thanks for that link General_187. I went to that site and ordered my new DSL connection back when I was still using cable(768/8000 but upload was having issues so I canceled it). Any way, I placed my order only to have to wait another 24 hours to hear back from them that I couldn't get Verizon DSL service. I was like CENSORED  (what the fudge  ). Being a pain in the butt, I went to the Verizon web site and ordered it from there and and guess what it worked. I am happy with Verizon but my current connection NOW will lag my server a bit when I am downloading stuff, which is something that never happened when I was on Cable.
In case you were wondering, I picked "it's OK". |

The new download system is fine, but it could be better. With the cutting back on downloads, how much bandwidth is the server saving with more people taking more time to download than having a download finish up quickly and freeing up space sooner? |

Its not about bandwidth saved... its about how many people are trying to use that bandwidth all at once. By spreading it out it both helps to keep speeds up for everyone and helps the server by not killing it by trying to serve up 50+ files at the same time.
As for transfered data...
I wont be able to compare the new system with the old until the end of the month. Daily stats fluctuate a fair bit so I go on monthly stats and these average out nicely.
Typically 1.2Tb - 1.4Tb per month. |

I have issues with change. The download is driving me up a wall because nothing I download works, it always says corupt file in winRAR and windows XP zip folders. You guys are lucky to get 56k, I can only get 28.8Kilo bytes per second.
I guess it is not just me that has the unified 4 blues.  |

As an ex-56Ker, I sympathize. There are some fairly inexpensive broadband packages out there to upgrade to though. Mine's US$19.95 a month.

iv'e been having the same prob as redfac18, the files ive downloaded since the change has been more corrupt than usual. Also ... GO 56K people ... i don't like the change either, but i can see why they did change it. i was long stuck on 56k for a LONG time since i live in a rural area and sometimes you don't have an option to get dsl. |

I feel for 56ker's, get a wireless card and steal internet from your neighbors, thats what I do. As for the download system, I'v yet to download from the new site, but it can't possibly be worse than the queing system. at Garner (J/k, gotta do what you gotta do) |

I've been trying to download from here for over a week and nothing works , I just keep getting server error or incorrect filetype, I am about to give up |
